Caroline Ambonville

The end of summer

Iwas born in the east of France, lived in Paris for a long time, then moved to Brittany, near Saint-Malo, in 2020.

Some would say that it was my mid-life crisis that caught up with me, that triggered this shift towards the West. I'm not sure, and in any case it doesn't really matter. So I certainly needed to shift my gaze to something else, to a broader horizon, and what better way to do that than the sea?

I've often tried to photograph. Everyday, my territory, my environment, my loved ones. The ordinary moments, the extraordinary episodes of life.

The intimate and the painful too. Time and again, the present catches up with me, and I wonder how to transcribe and express these feelings and doubts that assail me on a daily basis.

Because the passage of time disturbs me.
