Why launch a new leather goods brand? Are there still things to be invented for these everyday objects, such as a banal key ring, a glasses case or a handbag?

Chardon Paris wants to combine the useful with the pleasant and wishes to combine the functional with the beautiful for objects to be worn on a daily basis. With Chardon Paris, we wish to promote a new leather goods, both ingenious and elegant, in line with the traditional know-how around Leather and resolutely in line with the daily life and reality of women and men today.

We wanted to share our creative process, what drives us to rethink objects both in their functionality, but also in their appearance and design.

Originally a need ... and the journey ...

It is above all the mobility and nomadic lifestyle of city dwellers that has motivated us in the search for new functionalities for these everyday objects. The busy men and women interviewed forthe Conversations shared the little things that they lack, that waste time (the endless search for keys at the bottom of their bag, the search for a pen to take notes, the cumbersome and impractical glasses case, the bag that is too big or not big enough.) and for which they sometimes developed their own D-system, for want of anything better.

The objects that accompany us in our ever-changing lives must be reliable and appropriate; their functionality must adapt to our mobility. This is the lesson we have learned.

Design and prototyping

Chardon Paris objects are designed to facilitate the daily life of their owners, while maintaining a true elegance that makes them recognizable at first glance.

The shapes are worked on endlessly, first sketched in pencil and then prototyped. The models are tested against wear and tear, refined and adjusted until the perfect object is obtained. This is a very long process, well before the first production run.

The choice of materials

We believe that the quality of the materials and design is a guarantee of the durability of our objects. In our eyes, leather is a material that combines beauty, resistance and life with the patina of time. Moreover, leather is a material that embodiesupcycling par excellence. No animal is killed for its skin. But as long as humans eat meat, leather can be recovered and used.

Accessories (such as zips, collar buttons) are sourced from the best houses so that their proven durability benefits our items.

So, instead of "transitory" objects with a limited lifespan, we prefer craftsmanship and exceptional materials that guarantee durability. With these carefully selected materials, we can give Chardon pieces their robustness and timelessness. They are meant to last a lifetime and beyond, like those beautiful objects that we have inherited and wish to pass on one day.

Objects that bring joy

With these redesigned objects, offered in the most beautiful materials, we have imagined new gestures, inscribed in our daily lives to bring joy to their users. You pull on a strap to get your keys out of your bag, you slip an ultra-flat case into your jacket pocket, you open your conference folder to take notes, you unfold the wings of your shopping bag to increase its capacity... these are all new gestures which, combined with these beautiful, carefully designed objects, give us great satisfaction every day.

We hope that you will enjoy using these objects as much as we enjoyed imagining and designing them!
